This job is a full time, benefited position in the Computer Sciences Division that reports to the Dean of Computer Sciences.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned. Must hold a Bachelors degree in field AND at least 18 semester hours or 30 quarter hours at the graduate level in the specified field OR Masters degree in related field. Prior teaching experience in a post-secondary or technical education setting required, including experience with curriculum design and development, student evaluation, and outcome assessment.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Prior experience with accreditation preferred. Experience with online learning modalities preferred. Knowledge of principles and techniques of educational methods, proficiency in preparation and delivery of instruction, curriculum design, and communication, strong computer skills, human resource management skills, knowledge of contemporary curricular content and standards of practice, knowledge of accreditation practices.
Job Description
Summary:
Under general supervision, serve as CIS instructor and perform duties which include curriculum design and development; instruction, recruitment, and advisement of students; budgeting; and management of adjunct faculty. Responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and instruction of the Networking Specialist, Programming, Web Design, and Information Security programs. The instructor will be responsible for teaching a minimum of 15 to 20 credit hours of day or evening instructional courses per semester (including internships and labs). Duties also include participation in college committees and participation in professional enhancement. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts. Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately. Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts.
Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
1. Develop certificate and diploma curriculum.
Develop curriculum that meets state standards.
Develop admission policies and procedures.
Assume the leadership role in maintaining Networking certifications.
2. Organizes and administers the educational program in accordance with the goals and objectives of the program and/or college
Performs administrative functions related to program records, program evaluations including assessment of learning outcomes, reports, student records, and student evaluations.
Evaluates, selects, and requests educational materials and equipment.
Prepares and evaluates program budgets.
Conducts and documents regular advisory committee meetings.
Completes all reports and records in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.
3. Provide for quality instructional services
Prepare and deliver effective instructional material using a variety of teaching methods.
Establish a classroom/lab organization and management system containing policies and procedures.
Evaluate and assesses the educational needs and progress of program students.
Create an atmosphere conducive to student learning.
4. Maintain and develops continuous quality assessment and improvement strategies.
Evaluate current instructional techniques and support material.
Plan and implement systematic program review.
Evaluate and develops strategies to improve program standards.
Evaluate and develops strategies for recruitment and retention of students.
5. Coordinate departmental activities.
Coordinate program and faculty schedules.
Hire and schedule adjunct faculty.
Administer the program budget.
Schedule internship rotations
6. Participate in college and community activities.
Participate in standing or ad hoc committees.
Complete required annual professional enhancement activities.
Promote and participates in institutional and program marketing and recruitment activities.
Assist in the development of articulation agreements.
Maintain relationships with community partners.
Perform other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, mission, and purpose of Gwinnett
Technical College.
7. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
Establishes criteria and tests the students in order to measure each student's progress.
Communicates students' progress to student and appropriate personnel and according to established
guidelines.
Accurately records pertinent information in students' records as required.
8. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests.
Submits correct supply and equipment budget requests as necessary in accordance to establishes
guidelines.
Performs and maintains classroom inventory according to established policies and procedures.
Maintains an organized and proper supply of classroom instructional materials.
Promptly notifies supervisor of defective equipment.
9. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.
Attends required number of hours of required training.
Participates in education meetings, workshops, etc. as requested.
Ensures certification meets all required organizational and accreditation policies and guidelines.
Thoroughly conducts a self-study of the program's compliance with technical college, program and accreditation standards.
Exhibits and models positive work ethics.
10. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
Prepares and submits students progress and participation reports in accordance with the prescribed guidelines. Conducts follow-up surveys.
Ensures documentation meets all required organizational and accreditation policies and state guidelines.
Analyzes collected data for program improvement.
Compiles and submits reports in a timely manner to supervisor.
11. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature in the related vocational field.
Attends internal and external educational programs and professional meetings that meet the requirements for continuing education in the assigned specialty area.
Reads professional literature and translates complex or technical information into a meaningful format that may be understood by others.
Participates in advisory committees as requested.
Actively recruits for advisory committee members.
12. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
Advises students on course selection and other pertinent matters in a professional and effective manner.
Actively participates in staff and faculty meetings as needed to discuss students' progress, problems, and/or programs.
Serves as academic advisor to students in the program areas.

14. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
Actively recruits students for classes by explaining training offered and prepares a master schedule for departmental class offerings.
Prepares orientation for new students using effective materials while displaying a professional and courteous manner.
Actively participates in the retention efforts of the school.
Offers job placement assistance to the students and follows through using established contacts.
Ensures adequate and appropriate on-the-job training opportunities exist for each student.
15. Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
